William Laemmel Retires After 52 Year Financial Career

NEW YORK - Sept. 10, 2015 - PRLog -- Divine Capital Markets LLC announced today that William Laemmel, Director, is retiring this month after a storied 52-year career.

Following his Air Force career, Mr. Laemmel began his Wall Street career with Middendorf, Colgate & Co, establishing a specialty as an Insurance industry analyst.  Mr. Laemmel published the very first research report on the newly merged AIG.

After joining Kuhns Brothers & Laidlaw in 1974, Mr. Laemmel began a long study into the interrelationships between the business cycle, monetary policy and the overlooked role of depreciation in economic policy.  This work contributed to the plank behind Ronald Reagan’s presidential campaign, and led to a then-unheard-of meeting with Steve Taylor at the Federal Reserve.  This expertise in depreciation led Mr. Laemmel to pioneering insights on the eventual breakup of the Bell Telephone system, establishing his reputation as a telecom specialist at Laidlaw, as well as at WR Lazard and May Davis Group.

“Bill has successfully navigated more economic cycles, financial catastrophes and bubbles than anyone I know, and his wisdom and wit has been a guide for our team and our firm,” said Dani Hughes, CEO.  “His seminar on the economic cycle is a requirement for our interns each season.”

“Bill is unique; he is inveterately curious, with a thoughtful, disciplined mind, paired with a natural desire to teach,” said Steven Charest, Market Strategist. “His engaging stories that often began with, ‘well, back when we did the IPO for the wheel…’ were told with humor, exacting recall and always had a deeply useful insight.”

Bill’s legacy of mentoring young Wall Street professionals and educating clients guides us in creating a new generation of empowered professionals and investors.
